Well, I talked to my friend, and hes still trying to get prices together, mostly what it will cost to machine more and what is least expensive.

Did the machinist ever get these produced?

I think I would rather have 4-bolt caps fitted to the center three bearings than machine for the 392 Hemi girdle assy.
I talked to a guy at Milodon & he said they still have the blueprints & may make A set for me.
I think that "Summers Brothers" also used to make a set, but I didn't see any ref to them on their website:

For a 360, I sure like this option, as 4 bolt caps aren't possible on a 360 block

That IS very nice!!!

He's designing these mainly for the 360's, but work on others as well. Talked to him yesterday, and he's still looking into costs and having them laser cut.

You never said what you were trying to modify ... #-o
You can mod your own posts (upper right corner of your post gives (or should give) you an "edit" button), but what are you trying to do - I'm no longer government, but am still here to help :t:

Plasma cutting is probably good enough, and a lot more common.
Waterjet cutting may be more available than laser as well, and every bit as precise.

So what's the story.. No BS about pricing... Any word yet for the avail?
jeepsr4ever
These should be blanchard ground after laser or plasma

Is this another way of saying milled???

Well they may have a couple of issues. One is that the expansion rate MUST be the same as the stock cap. 1045 is the popular choice of material and it has a co-efficient of thermal expansion that is VERY close to the stock caps and block, 212 - 750 deg F. is 5.9-7.5 (per pro grams specs) Which is probly heat treated. When you use a plasma or lasered piece and it expands much greater than those numbers (mild steel) then your nuts will loosen. Material stability is another one...mild steel will dance under the heat due to the stresses (unless stress relieved) and for that length and thickness of material if it is indeed mild steel it can cause bearing issues. All this considering the machinist hasnt done his math on the material involved. Other considerations would be the flatness of the material. Blanchard grinding give materials a ultra flat surface, better than just a machined surface. The holes should also be VERY close to .500. Hopefully all this is integrated into this item.

Yeah, OK. Whatever. Guess this is why I leave that shit up to the professionals ... right now I have to find a bigger hole saw to mount my new gauges ....

It'll be ok Rat.. some days are like that, Just when I think I get it, up pops some smart guy that proves that not only didnt I get it.. I probably wasn't even close.. Thus.. Money, So we can pay these guys for thier expertise..
As to the bigger hole saw.. when you get the bigger one you will probably punch one off center an 1/8th..
Is this helping any or do you need the suicide hotline number?
