I don't know man... a 9" will handle it with ease as-well... Plus it's smaller, lighter and has better clearances... common 5 lug pattern and you can't walk through a junk yard without seeing a handful... Just food for thought.

Very true. It boils down to what width you are trying to get. Some old Mopars had some pretty narrow semifloat 60s back in the 440 and hemi cars. They were, IIRC, 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

What's the probability of running across one of those axles, and when and if you do what Kind of $$$$ are you going to pay for it? You could use a late 60's maybe early 70's 9" from an F100 and use a different back spacing on the rims... and it'll sit pretty tight.

Either one will get the job done, but the F100 should be a WMS of about 65-67" and likely 31 spline. That's a whole lotta backspacing on the wheels, but I'm in the rockcrawling world. Check the avatar. :oops: Another good donor would be an early Bronco. They had a small bearing 9 at about 59-60 inches width. That could be the ticket. The old mopar axles can be had at 60" width. I've seen them as low at $500 (your ford 9 will be significantly cheaper). They're a 35-spline SF and are ungodly strong. Most came with 3.54 gears.

lol soon the block, heads, and crank are actualy at the machine shop now, well its at my school with has a high performance engine machinist course i will be doing all the work my self so i actually wont be able to start working on it till the 14th when school starts back up but i will take pics of every thing i do and every step of the way so you guys can see. i can get pics of the porting on the 14th since ive done most of it already and ill also post numbers with the stock valves and the ss/amx valves.
