It is my 1977 CJ-7, that my dad bought brand spanky. 258, 3 speed, narrow track, death machine. Still have it and has cost me a fortune mentally, physically, emotionally and financially to drag around with me. Now has 360, wide track, cage roll bar, etc... "But Honey, it makes it much safer for the kids". Now have a 1983 J-10 to go with it.

That was about 40k miles ago, a little over a year ago. Currently have the block stripped down, waiting to go for a good boring before I rebuild it. It was going to be a cheap throw-it-together affair, but I'm starting to add it up and thats not going to happen.

Still have some of that oil left?

My first AMC was a 1976 CJ-5 when I was 16..traded a Fiat X19 for it & I still don't know which one costs more to fix. I also owned a Gremlin for a day. I ran into the back of this lady's car with a full size Chevy on 38"s. I was only trying to change the station. Her estimate to repair it was about $3500. so I just bought her another one for $600 and she was tickled pink because I let her keep the wrecked one. Now I have a fleet of AMC's including a 1983 CJ-7/ 304 w/ a 360 on the engine stand..Just waiting on the Edelbrock heads now that the nickel timing cover arrived. I also have a 1979 Cherokee widetrack under construction and a Cj-5 that I am building for my Dad. Had a '87 wagoneer but my friend had a Cherokee that needed a motor. The motor left and the Waggy hung around so I guess I still have it too :t: .
