First AMC/Jeep? I just got her thursday. It's a '71 Javelin AMX and it needs quite a bit of work ranging from rust repair to new locks and a wiper assembly. Needless to say, i love her regardless. I'm sure it'll be doubled when she runs too

looks like a fun project Genin!

My first AMC was a '73 Matador 4door, former City of Kelso car. It was a fleet vehicle, 360, no options, it even had rubber floor mats instead of carpet. I had good times in that car too numerous to list  :lo1l: :t:

My first AMC is an 1980 Jeep Wagoneer Custom Ltd black in colour. I did reasearch and apparently there were less than 900 made in that model line for the year, that's why I kept her after the motor died.
She 'should' be back together in the fall......

My first AMC 1968 AMX 343.

My first was an 81 AMC Eagle SX4. Awsome car, the best car I have ever owned, until it was totalled by an out of countrol teenager driving his grandpa's trans am. Pics to come of the Eagle.
Next is my CJ, with a 304.

My first, only, and last Jeep is my 88 Grand Wagoneer. Just repainted to a nice deep black. I'm building and installing a custom EFI setup using MegaSquirt. It's going to use EDIS wasted spark for computer programmable ignition. The EFI consists of a GM TBI (ported and polished, with raised injectors) with 55 lb/hr injectors run over at 18 psi ontop of a helix 1" spacer ontop of an Edelbrock 3731 intake. The EGR valve is user controlled and can be activated or deactivated on the fly. Still trying to figure out how to mount a 36-1 tooth gear on the crank pulley and get a VR sensor close to it, but other than that, things are going smoothly. The intake is a candy red with multiple layers of clear coat = nice deep, easy to clean good looks. One day, once the EFI works flawlessly, a vortec supercharger might find it's way onto the GW....heeeheee. They make so many performance products for GM TBIs, why not.
The GW serves duty as DD and windsurfing vehicle. Plays on the Hatteras beach and bravely transverses Baltimore City. Has 12" Thule roof racks that looked rediculous at first but are great for carrying EVERYTHING. Well, that's my jeep.

I was scouring the local area for my first 4wd, looked at few Chevys and Fords, but stopped in my tracks when I spotted a 1979 Jeep Wagoneer Limited on my commute. The price was right, it had stock all-time 4wd, and it ran. She got me through, oh, three harsh upstate NY winters before picking up a '76 J-10.

My first AMC was a New 68 Rogue 290 4spd Red/Red Black Viny top....
loved it....keys got left in the Ignition parked in front of the house and it left town after three months of ownership....In the Navy at the time...left over parts found 6 months later by the FBI in Alabama.....have been an AMC fan ever since.
Replaced it with a used 68 Rogue 290 4spd posi with 4.44 gears in the rear
....drove it hard for two years and traded it for a used 69 Javelin 390/auto..
and there have been many others over the last 37 years....

Dang internet at work was so slow I couldnt even get into the forum today to see what this was all about !
Anyway.........My first AMC is my 68 AMX, its a 390 car with a 4 speed and a posi. The second one is a 70 Rebel wagon with a 304 auto. Plans are to find a lightweight smaller AMC to build as a drag/street car.

When I traded my '60 Corvair for it, it was 2bbl single exhaust, which I changed ASAP to twice pipes and a torker. I embarrassed quite a few Camaro, Nova, chevelle and 5.0 Mustang owner around town :lo1l:

My 1981 FSJ Cherokee right after the razor grille swap. It's hard to believe I've had it for over two years now!

My first Jeep is a 1976 Cherokee Chief Wide-track, It's got a nicly warmed over AMC 401 and a TH-400, with the Quadra-track transfer case. It's the best mountain truck I've ever owned. My mom liked it so much that she made me hunt her down a nice Full Size Grand Wagoneer. So the second Jeep in the family is a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. My Jeep is a lot less nice looking, but it drives and handles way better. I'm looking foward to doing some more minor modifications to it. Currently, I'm investigating using a set of SSBC dual-piston front calipers in place of the O.E. G.M. single piston calipers. All FSJ's could use some more front brake in my opinion, so I'll let you know how that swap turns out!

My first Jeep I still have and it is my only Jeep. Bought a FSJ new in 89. Between what I paid for it inthe beginning and what I have had to put in over the years I must be crazy! But there is someting addictive about Jeeps...

First Jeep was a 75 CJ5 that started with a 304 that roached quick #-o I dropped in a 327 4-boult, popped and polished with a Torker and 650 Holly. It met an untimely demise when I took it end-over-end off a dune in SoCal.
