NEW 401 BLOCKS (aluminum!!)

I don't see any reason it wouldn't, they've been fit (along with the 671) to the std AMC block. Might need a different pully set if using the ICH manifold. Is ICH building a blower manifold?

By looking at the block , You would have to make a motor mount some how if a person was going to put it in an unmodified car or jeep. Because I would not want to use a motor plate. Would the bearing clearances be any difference on this block for ever day hard street and on / off road use.

Those $4200 aluminum blocks are double cool, but for guys that just have reular jobs, I'd sure like to see new production 360 and 401 short blocks for say... $1000-$1200 :-|

$1000-1200 - not going to happen unless made in Taiwan or india or somewhere. why would anyone buy one oof these ? why would'nt you instead build a 426 Hemi based one instead , heaps more efficient , more powerfull , most Top fuelers run a hemi based engine - spose all us guys who have regular jobs , just like to dream about them - fair enough !

In the under $2K range, they'd probably sell quite a few to Jeep and AMC guys that like the idea of staying with an AMC powerplant in their ride.

Maybe the same holds true for the AMC race guys .. they already have lots of money tied up in their cars anyway, and like the romanticism of sticking with AMC power. A Hemi powered AMX is just not the same. Just like a Chevy powered CJ7. (I'm not knocking anyone with a Chevy CJ7 .. it's just an example, and a personal opinion.)

I agree, whether it's AMC, Mopar, Ford or GM......but I'm more of a restorer than a race guy. To me these cars and older FSJs are works of art .....not just cars.

I'm working in a '68 javelin that I won't be putting an alum. block in, but, I race a 410 dirt sprint car here in Pa. and I can only imagine the jaws dropping if an AMC alum. 410ci. would spank all these Ott & Kriner chevies! How cool would that be?

Ummmmm..........I'm glad they didn't have those out in 1999 when I built my 401. I was looking for ways to save weight on the Scrambler since I was adding dayna 60's and front & rear winches. that would of required another fresh Credit Card or two.
