Resurrecting the old SC/Rambler 390 engine.

That left free-flow manifold will have clearance issues with the strut rod bracket. SC/Ramblers used a log style manifold. Which heads are on it? I'm doing a tribute out of a 67 two door HT. It will be 390/5 speed on a full Control Freak suspension. Bob tufcj

I also have the stock 1969 rectangular port heads and stock log exhaust manifolds. This engine is using the 1970 smallest combustion chamber dog-leg 291’s with screw-in studs. It appears to me that it will drop into the SC/Rambler engine bay without any issues. If not I could still use the log exhaust manifold that I have and grind in a bit of a dog-leg to almost match.

You could use a 70 only dog-leg log style manifold. They also used a log style right manifold on later V-8 Hornets and Gremlins. You can also notch and reinforce the strut rod bracket. I have 291C heads and the same manifolds you picture on my 67 (running a 68/69 390). If you look at the frame just above the passenger strut rod bracket, you'll notice the lip of the pinch weld is trimmed down. I had to trim it a little further toward the front with the free-flows, and I don't have the bracket to deal with because of the Control Freak suspension. Bob tufcj

It looks like someone may have cut the flange off the bottom of that right manifold and rotated it. I've heard of them fitting once hat's done. Like the external oil pickup. Bob tufcj
