Cam in 304 advice

I have been running the edelbrock 2132 cam in my 304 jeep. The jeep has a t18a d/20 and sidetrack axles w/2.73 gears may swap to 4.10 gears in future 600cfm 1405, hei , stock exh manifolds . Mainly used on the street, does do some snow plowing and trail riding nothing serious. It had a 2132 cam before engine rebuild 7-8years ago not many miles since . Does more sitting than anything . Had a summit 8600 after rebuild and had went thru 3 sets or more of dizzy gears ( bad memories ) you can search the archives for story's . That's behind me since mc got me straighten out on dizzy . Thanks Now I have a bad lifter again with the 2132 again 1st time I rebuilt engine because of it . This time hopefully just cam and lifters. Looking at the lunati voodoo 250/256 10100700lk Or 256/262 10100701lk has anyone used these in a 304 Trying to get some advice any issues or problems is this a good vendor . Will it be close to the 2132 performance Looking for torque low don't go much over 5000 rpm . But looking for the most off idle improvement . The edelbrock was ok , just had bad luck . It may have been the oil I was using 10w40 Mobil 1 And didn't use any zinc additive I had noticed a ticking in the exh for a bit Than was idling one day and started popping out carb - had a bent pushrod . Then found A bad lifter on no. 3 hole . Any advice on cams There are so many out there and trying to educate my self .

I plan on going with the Melling MTA-1. No new pushrods needed and it has good low end torque.

I had a 2132 cam in my 360 powered CJ7. T-18/Dana300. I ran a Mallory Unilite distributor and Howell EFI. Mine had 4.27 gears with 35" tires, went to 4.88s with 37" tires. It would pull stumps at idle, kinda ran out of power over 4500. It ran about 3100-3200 RPM at 75 MPH. I really think it's a good cam, but your gears are really hurting performance. Bob tufcj

I know my gears are high and they are on the list .
So far they have not been a real problem. I have to get this cam fixed first and tired of the lifters wearing , Trying to make a reliable motor. Would like torque ,power ,and mileage ;in that order .

I've only ever lost one cam lobe. That was on an engine with mis-matched cam and valve springs. The valve springs had too much seated pressure for the cam. Be sure to match the cam with recommended valve springs and new lifters. Follow the cam break in instructions, run at 2000+ RPM for at least 20-30 minutes at first start, varying the RPM during that time. Lube the cam lobes well with assembly lube, and have the carb primed and timing set so it starts quickly (try not to crank it a lot before first start). I run a ZDDP additive for the first 3 oil changes, then just good quality dino oil. First oil/filter change immediately after the 30 minute cam break-in, second oil/filter change at 500 miles, 3rd at 2000 miles. Bob tufcj
