jeepsr4ever Screwing around in the shop this evening for a customer. Turning and drilling hubs to fit 5 on 5.5 pattern. Maybe this might help someone.
ironman_gq looks good cept for the new hole catching the edge of the old hole. Was this just for a mock-up to see how it would go? are you going to be machining all new hubs with this pattern? might be nice to upgrade to a D60 without having to buy new wheels
jeepsr4ever No this is just how you machine a 8 lug to 5 lug. Having one holes just touch the other in this scenario isnt a huge deal. Alot of trail rides required no more than 4 out of 5 lugs missing but here you can use all 5 lugs. Its alot of turning to do and the casting chips are nasty.
ironman_gq I agree about machining castings!! lots of carbon (graphite) in castings so you get lots of dust and the cast iron dust is very abrasive on equipment and the outer layer can be extremely hard.
fifesjeep Yeah I have to agree... machining cast materials in general is kind of dirty... beats fiberglass though.
