I stumbled across this site-

They cover more than you need to know about Delco 10SI, 12SI and the newer CS series alternators.
Applications were not gone into extensively on the CS series, but according to my GM manual, the 1997 GMC K1500 has a 105A unit and only needs the idiot light connected to the "L" terminal.
More trivia, Late GM diesels use the square wave output on the alt to drive the tach... :-| Always wondered how they did that.

I always thought they used a crank angle or crank position sensor for the tach drive and injection timing

According to my GM service manual, the 97 pickup w/ 6.5 TD drove the tach with a square wave signel from the alt.
98 and later 6.5 & 6.6 utilized the crank pos sensor and the PCM to drive the tach.

Seems the most common application is out of a 94 Cadillac Deville Concours w/o heated windshield. (140A)
