Saw A thread on the differences between 304 and 360 driver side manifold lengths. Now I don't which one actually came off my 360 that is in my 1978 cj7. Evedentially, the 360 manifold "exits" further back and can interfere with the clutch linkage. Questions:
1) Are both L/R iron manifolds on all 360's the same length?
2) Are all 304 iron manifolds stagered lengths?
3) Since I have a 360 in the jeep does it have to have the "304" style iron exh. man. to clear my t-18a?
4)How does this affect my header choice. They do not seem to differentiate between 304 and 360 engines. Are all headers made to the 304 lengths?
5) If I go back to an iron manifold, what years were dog-leg 304 available (used or new). Any reason not to buy a "new" iron manifold?

It's not 304/360/401 manifold as much as the year. Once the V-8 in the CJ ended and the manual trans in the Wagoneer (both 1980?) the only place a V-8 was used was in the automatic equipped Wagoneer. Since it no longer needed to clear clutch linkage, it was re-designed to dump at the rear. I've got a known 78 Wagoneer DS manifold on my CJ, and it dumps between 5-7, not at the rear.

the difference is between the manual vs auto tranny. the manual dumps in the center and the auto dumps to the rear. I have a set under my workbench if you need some they are for a CJ with the manual tranny. You can have them for the price of shipping.
