Does anyone know where I can get a set of 0.001" undersized main and rod bearings for my 401 rebuild?
Thanks John

unless you come across some NOS parts I think they only go in .010 increments now. They quit making the AMC shells in .001 increments AFAIK. :sa:

King bearings used to make them. Don't know if they still do. I couldn't get the search function to work in the online catalog, so you may need to call.

Looks like Summit has the rod bearings:
part no. Federal Mogul Z3385CP1
also, for .001 mains, they show Federal Mogul Z5037M1, but they don't list them for a 390 or 401. Don't all AMC V8s share the same mains?

I've tried Clevite, King and Crown and they don't manufacture them anymore. I'm hoping maybe someone has some NOS somewhere.
The Ford 351C engine has the same main bearing dimension. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable. They are available in 0.001"
Cheers John

I think the 401/390 used larger mains than the 304/360 but I cant remember for sure. Maybe Im thinking of the Rods but not sure

I'll call summit on Monday to see if they have any stock. The 360. 390 and 401 have the same mains. Rod bearings are smaller on the 360.
Thanks John

No. no stock, no supply. I'm now looking at coatings, Polydyne, moly-graphite by Federal and clevite. As the is an antique with few annual running hours and a lot of cold starts, coatings are well suited for this application.
