Cooling for my 75 CJ5 401

Looking for a little advise. I am finalizing my build of my 401... just waiting for parts from Bulltear. I was wondering what type of radiator and cooling fans (mechanical or electrical) you guys have been running? I have read a few threads and was interested in the Ford contour dual electric. And what about shrouds? Any recomendations or advise would be appreciated. BTW I am in NoCAl and summers do get into the 100's. Thanks

I prefer a mechanical fan, although the new electric fan technology has come a long way. With my CJ, which I use for rock crawling, I have a 7 blade flex fan from an early A/C Javelin. It cools better than the factory clutched fan did. I run a 2 row aluminum cross flow radiator from "Be Cool" and have never had any heating problems. I run a 4 row copper radiator from http://www.extremeradiator.com/store/ in my 390 powered AMX, and have no problems with that either.

With any type of mechanical fan, a shroud is a must. I have a 2 speed Ford Taurus fan sitting in the shed, but I've never installed it.

What do you like better... the four core copper radiator from Extreme or the aluminum 2 core from BeCool? Where can you get that 7 blade flex fan? Anyone recomend electric with a shroud?

I run a 3 row heavy duty cooling AutoZone rad in my 80 CJ7 with 401 automatic... Stock fan and shroud. No issues.... Dave

Both are quality pieces. The aluminum was A LOT more $$$$ (Like double). I wanted a stock look in the AMX, so that's why I stuck with copper there. If money/looks were no object, I'd go aluminum, on a budget copper is fine. I found the fan and spacer on a Javelin in a junkyard, I swapped it because the clutch on the factory fan was going bad. It actually runs cooler than the clutch fan ever did. You see them all the time on eBay, or post a wanted ad here. I bet someone has one. Bob tufcj

i have never run a shroud on my 360 and it seems to run fine as far as temps are concerned. wonder what kinda difference i would see with one?

I have been looking at the extreme radiator website and they don't have any contact information. The flexalite 575 fan I purchased should bolt up to a stock radiator, but the extreme radiator 4 core info says that it is larger than stock. Core depth is not given on the website. Any one have a contact number for extreme?
