DolceCJ For my AMC 360. After soaking in oil for 5-6 hours is it recommended I push down on each lifter with the push rod to bleed out any excess air before installation?
Mudrat Two schools of thought on that one: First - Yes, ensures all the air os bleed out Second - No. pumps the lifter up too much on intial turnover of the engine and could "possibly" wipe a lobe. I just soak'm and install'm
JERSEYJOE I soak them over night then wipe the off before I put assembly lube on the cam end. When you prime the engine with the pre-oiler you are going to pressure up the lifters any way. When doing so I like to turn the engine 90 degrees ( with a breaker bar not the key) and run the priner tool for a couple of minutes every 90 degrees. This way all the lifters get a change to oil up.
