P-brake cable

OK, Somebody has already engineered a solution for this I'm sure. :-| The problem is my left rear (driver side) parking brake cable is this :!: much too short. What I've got: 85CJ, SOA on Dana 44's topped with a 3" spring pack and a disc brake conversion using Caddi calipers (they use the same cable ends as Jeep) Issue is I bought 3 different 'stock' Jeep brake cables, 31.5 (CJ replacement), 34" (CJ8 replacement) and 66"(stock passenger side cable). The 34" is 3-4 inches too short to allow for flex and the 66 is waaaaayyyy to long. I'm thinking a 38-40", maybe 42" would be just about right. Comments welcome on this length as well :idea: What's out there that'll fit? Been looking at various sites at various cables, Chevy/GM, Ford, Jeep etc. It's been a hit or miss endever to pick a car/truck by make/model combination and then look to see if any cables had; 1) the right cable ends as the Jeep, and 2) the right length to fit the distance and flex. :roll: Frustration is setting in - so close, but yet so far :oops: I can't be alone in this problem - just haven't found a good solution! And VA requires a parking brake to pass VDOT inspections. #-o

how long is the caddy cable? if the ends are the same the car is probably longer or pretty close in length to your jeep.

Dunno - can't seem to find a web site that lists O/A lengths? I keep getting answers like this:

try rockauto.com they tend to list most of the specs for things like that and prices are pretty reasonable.

Well, still no luck. I've tried rock auto and a dozen other places and can't find what I'm looking for. The parts are Rock auto said call In Line Tube and have one made. That's an option, but would still like a stock unit that's off-the-shelf replaceable rather than a $60-$80 one shot deal 111!!!

Somebody has had this problem before, so "somebody" has the solution ... I know we are not alone #-o

sounds like a trip to the yard with a tape measure to find something close. Did Ford ever use the right ends?

If caddy used the right ends I would think a chevy would have the same ones. Try an s10 or maybe even a station wagon Im just trying to think of vehicles that are roughly the right length.

Go to the Rock Auto page,
Pick, Jeep, Chevy, Ford ...
With Chevy, pick a year (mid-80's to 90's) car, truck or van (Astro thru Z-28 ).
Select Brake/Wheel hub and then Parking Brake cable.

Go thru each one by one for hours and hours. Some list the length others don't. So if the picture looks 'close' you copy the Dorman or Wagner # and pop it into Google and see if it's listed anywhere else.

The stock CJ Raybestos # is BC93113.
The 2006 Wrangler # is BC96158. It's a good length (₄₀ in) but has different cable ends and sheath length. Talking to the Parts person, the sheath ends (the ends that hold it in place onthe frame and brake housing) won't fit the frame or brake openings.

This shouldn't be difficult, but DAMN 111!!! :oops:
