People today watch the news and think it's gospel. I was at a Warren Zevon concert many years ago (met him in person afterward), and he commented that the media only covers 3 events per day. He pointed out a fairly significant event happening overseas, it didn't pop up in the U.S. news until over a week later, when it was pretty much over.
Without getting political, look at the presidential campaign. I believe the outcome was COMPLETELY media driven. All the way from the primaries on. IMO, there were better candidates on both sides of the fence, but they were completely ignored by the media, so they were out before they started. Ron Paul was my choice, but largely ignored by the media.
