401 Cam measurements

Does anyone have a amc V8 camshaft that they can take some measurements for me. I need the OD of front bearing journal and OD of the part that sticks out the front where the cam gear mounts. I just tore down the 4.0 engine that I am going to stroke for my 2003TJ. It has a plate that holds the cam in. I was going to see if this will work on my 401(spare engine). I dont have a cam in the 401, just crank, rods, and pistons. Thanks

I was unaware that ANY? AMC engine used a cam thrust plate??

I got 2.120 0n the frt bearing journal & exactly 1.0 on the key way cam gear shaft.

Thanks. I will post a pic of the Jeep 4.0 thrust plate, and take some measurements. I think the Jeep 4.0 started using a thrust plate in 1996.

HHMMM!??? I pulled the cover off of my '00 4.0 and it does have a thrust plate. can these late blocks be retro'd back to the old style?, or do I need to find an earlier block for my stroker?, I've already got the cam and chain!

Research shows they changed at '98 to '99 models.

Yes they can. If you want any kind of performance cam, you have to use the older setup (Cam, timing set, cam bolt with pin and spring).
