mike4089 I just bought an old willys. Its a 1961 from what i believe it is a dj3a willys.. Did the dj3a come and 4 wheel drive?? mine is for wheel drive with a three speed and by looking at pictures the dj3a is a perfect match...also the serial code on passenger firewall is 56337 - 20419...ive yet to find a dj3a that is 4 wheel drive though....also are these dj3a's really rare???
mike4089 i think someone changed it...becuase the dj3a is the only willys jeep body that i have found that has the gas filler in the back of the jeep on the passenger side....also the serial code and it has a spare tire carrier on the rear liftgate not on the side on the body like most willys....are the dj3a's worth anything?? are they rare highly sought after???
tufcj I had a 59 DJ. I bought it because someone had converted it to 4WD using A Willy's MB drivetrain (engine, trans, t-case, and axles). I put the front clip on my CJ2A, and sold the drivetrain for 5X what I paid for the whole thing. Later I sold the body to a guy looking to convert his rusted out CJ3A into an enclosed hunting vehicle. Sold the frame to another CJ3A owner. Rare? Probably. The vast majority, if not all were factory 2WD. I imagine most were crushed or scrapped at the end of their USPS service. Valuable? Probably not. They're butt-ugly and not really that useful. I bought mine for $200, running but not drivable because of a bad radiator and broken spring. Bob tufcj
tufcj The DJ3As I've seen are the typical looking mail jeeps with the sliding doors, but with flat fenders. Of course, this is a DJ also. Maybe restore it to this. Bob tufcj
