a440plus6 I have this Konig 100 but it is not like any other I have seen cause its set up for a chain drive.......anyone know how this was set up originally? If I could figure out how to post a pic I would lol #-o [/img]
tufcj It's probably a PTO driven winch. A shaft would come either from the trans (T-18 ) or t-case (Model 18 ) to the front or back of the vehicle, then a chain from the shaft to the winch. Strong as hell, but useless if the vehicle won't run, like the modern hydraulic winches. To post pic, you need to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket. It's free. Bob tufcj
a440plus6 I know it's PTO driven but I have only seen ones with coupler never with sprocket....so thats why I was wondering. Here is a pic of it. http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o277/a440plus6/Konig%20Winch/
tufcj That is an antique, but if the gears are good, it could be made to work. You just need a trans or t-case with a PTO adapter, a shaft with a support bearing, a gear with a pitch that matches what you have and a chain. Ratio will depend on how many teeth on your gear. I'd keep it small, so it would be slower and more powerful. Like I said above, it ain't worth a darn if you're upside down or sunk in a river and the Jeep won't run. Bob tufcj
a440plus6 Thanks, I'm just trying to go after that period look on my 48 CJ2a but didn't know if it was somehow crank driven like some of the early Agri Jeeps had crank driven stuff.
