tufcj wroteOnly if you have the flexplate rebalanced. AMC V8s are externally balanced, so you need a flexplate and harmonic balancer specific to the displacement. A 360 flexplate on a 401 could cause some serious vibration problems.
I think a 401/727 flexplate is available thru most auto parts stores for under $50. Go with a 74-up 401 powered AMC car for application.

Thanks for the qwick response, just one more question, I checked with Advance auto and they do carry flexplates for a 1974 Matador, but there is no way to know if it is using a TF 727 or the TH400, They list three seperate plates, just want to be sure to order the right one. does anyone know what tranny the Matador used???
