can the front output bearing be replaced on a Dana 20 with the case in the vehicle without major dissasembly?

It probably can be, but it is a pain. The front bearing retainer also holds the shift rods. I don't know if there is clearance to slide it off without dropping the case.
It's only a matter of 5 mounting bolts, and the rear driveshaft anyway, so why fight it under the vehicle?

I was hoping to leave it in there as the last time I pulled the case out it took me two hours by myself to get it to go back in and line it up. I found myself sitting up under my jeep with the case in my lap and then lifting it up while trying to not hit my head on anything sharp and then trying to get the bull gear on the tranny output into the case and getting it to mesh.

if you dont do it now I always used 2 long 3/8 bolts with the heads cut off to help line every thing up
