Melling MTA-1 vs. Edelbrock 2132 Camshaft

Getting ready to purchase camshaft and down to two choices - Melling MTA-1 vs. Edelbrock 2132 Camshaft. Lift and duration seem to be about the same and I would expect the same results but is one better than the other? AMC 401 Standard Bore .010/.010 Crankshaft 3444 Heads Recent rebuild New Edelbrock 1405 600 cfm Edelbrock 2131 Intake Used Cam & Distributor ?????? As funds permit......

It wouldn't surprise me if they were exactly the same cam. Edelbrock does not grind its own cams. Either Melling grinds them for Edelbrock or they get them from the same source.

The edelbrock performer is nearly identical to if not the same as the Cleviter performer.

Here's a link showing that apparently Clevite makes the cams for Elgin. It was bought as an Elgin but showed Clevite on the packing list. Seems like you never know what you're getting these days.

Thanks. all this info has helped a lot. Just when I think I know all about camshafts by reading a few chapters. The concept of the lift is easy, just can't comprehend the duration, etc. in degrees.
