jj Does anyone know how if at all the balance is effected by useing later model 401 rods in a 68/69 390? Any recomendations for a AMC freindly machine shop within a 200 mile radius of Savannah Ga. Thank s in advance JJ
tufcj The 401 rods are a bit longer (5.850 vs. 5.790), so common sense says they'd be a bit heavier. If you're spending the money to rebuild a motor, the $100-150 extra spent for a professional balance is worth it for longevity alone. Bob tufcj
