please tell me why i am leaking coolant here....??

the picture is when i was dissasembling my straight 6 before i put in the 360...after i put in the 360 i would leak coolant from this little vent or what ever it is...i pulled the heater hoses stuck them together and walla no more leaking....does this mean my heater core is bad?? did i have the hoses hooked up wrong or what???

Yep I'd say bad heater core.

That little vent I think is for condensation off of the heater core to drain out of, so if coolant was coming out of there I would say a leak in the heater core is a good bet.

Before you rip apart the heater box try tightening the clamps on the heater inlet and outlet!My cj7 did that last winter and the coolant was running down the inlet/outlet pipes[couldnt tell which]and in to the heater box ,after i tightened them it stopped leaking.Worth a try !Mike :-|

i dont know i mean when it leaks it is a steady flow of coolant its not just a drip

Well, it should be obvious if you where constantly toping off the radiator.
