Emrogue I know bestop used to make hatchback softops, but have discontinued them. Anyone know if there's any company out there making them??
tufcj Are you talking a half top, or one that just the back half is removable. I've never heard of a hatchback top for a Jeep. What model Jeep do you have? Welcome to Bulltear. Bob tufcj
76-cj7 When i got my CJ-5 it had a "hatchback" top on it where it does a slope from rollbar to back edge of body tub.....that top has been long gone though and i am not sure where you can buy them.....but if you call BesTop they can sell you alot of discontinued items as "replacement parts"
Emrogue I have a 63' CJ5, Here's a pic of a jeep with a hatchback soft top. I can't find them ANYWHERE, but I'm told that BesTop used to make them, but stopped.
Phil I had one that was called a "fastback" top when I bought it. I threw it away a couple of years ago after it started to rot apart.
76-cj7 Same exact thing as mine was......cept mine was tan and was for an 80 cj-5......i tossed it as P.O. cut back out of it cause zipper broke
Phil I would try to find one in a J C Whitney catalog. If anyone would still have one it would probably be them. Good Luck!
Mudrat THIS is the closest I could find ... may want to give them a call on earlier model Jeeps? I think there was a guy on the FL board that replaced his a year or so ago. I'll see if I can find out....
Emrogue thanks for all the help. nufdum said "fastback" and I did a search on that. Seems that's more official. Now I just have to figure out which one to get, and from which company. I like the Viking one, but I'm not sure if I can get one that will fit my 63 CJ5. I've read that if you change the windshield frame to one for a 75 or newer you'll have better luck finding a top you can fit on it? Is this all you have to do?? I'm gonna have to put a new windshield frame on anyway, mine is shot!
Mudrat You need to look at the distance between the windshield and the tail gate. That's the critical measurement.
