Milodon timing gear cover- MC please help

Who makes or can make a timing gear cover to work with the Milodon cam gear setup? MC can you do this? I had a oem cover welded up - but the bolt below the weld leaks, really bad. I have my turboed' 401 all apart now and ofcourse the cover/oil pump is one of my concerns. Hankrod

Henry you can modify a existing timing cover to make this work or you could have us make a custom piece. A custom piece would be around $1200. Nobody currently makes a cover for this application.

Gulp :shock: Really I know this would be a big job and possibly a first time setup / run. I thought the cost would be up there. MC are you thinking of a billet piece? and would this be a good push for you to get into the billet cover production business - with your new CNC machines n-all. If you had a couple more buyers would it help with the cost of your r&d, setup, trial runs and so on, and with the final cost?. Thanks for yor respose. Hankrod

It may hit that high with the design changes. We are just about done with the final design on the new cover so practice isnt really needed but is always welcome.

What brand are your New CNC's... Our CNC side deals mostly with Haas... Which, isn't the greatest but then again they're not the worst... Are you running a 5th axis on any of your mills?

We deal with Fadal only right now. They are rigid enough to handle the hard steels yet not slow enough to mow through aluminum. All our spindles have 10,000rpm capability. I dont mind the Haas but dont like import parts and their service was horrible.

Years ago Gene Haas sid he would offer Japanese quality CNC's at American prices. This year he was busted hard for tax evasion. They have snowballed their engineering staff meaning they have to keep coming up with new designs or they will loose their engineering staff and their business so their were a ton of changes from year to year with the Hass machines. Nothing really wrong with them but when we like to hog out material a Fadal works better for us.

Will your new 2-pices timing cover design acomodate a change to support the Milodon gears and still support stock water pumps? Just a thought if the design could accomodate variations for gear trains and then again if the base could be modified to work with different tops covers for different water pumps :mrgreen: :-|

Does any one have photos of the front timing cover ( inside ) with the mods for the Milodon gear drive. Milodon special instructions for the cover mods does not go into alot of details. THANKS
