Can it be done? What flexplate should be used?

I would think with the similarities between the 4.0L and the 258, that a rebalanced 727/999 258 Flex Plate could work but would definitely need to be rebalanced. You would also need to be sure to use a 4.0 Computer that was setup for a manual tranny. -Dave

It's a 4.0L manual, going to use a 727. Got the computer covered. Is the flexplate the same for the 727/999?

Probably could get away with a 999 flexplate but you better double check that.. it would likely need to be re-balanced and you would need to use the 258 start I believe..

The sixes are all internal balanced, the 4.0's ALL require the crank sensor on the fly wheel, it mounts in the bellhousing on both the manual and the automatic, there is an available modified front dampner that will relocate the crank sensor to the front of the engine.
