Ok guys we can do a 1540 forged steel crank in a 3.75" and 4.00" stroke using a Chevy 2.100" type rod. We are looking at around $1100 per crankshaft. Now who is seriously interested?

Oh man...you're killing me!! How long is this deal going to be around?
Can you get us a deal on a big blower or couple of turbos? maybe I'll want to lower the compression on the pistons! :?:

These are 5140..sorry 4340 would be 300 more. We havent gotten spit for response though.

I'm 100% interested but my wallet isn't  Still waiting for that new job to finally start :(:

I will be able to afford one about mid-summer. I'd like the 4" stroke, to be dropped in an early .030" 360 block. A new torque monster for the CJ. :lo1l:

I'm in,
What would the 5140 be rated at,would the 4340 be stronger?

Who would be making the cranks?

We cannot give our source on that. Sourcing a good company was a BEAR!!
We are told that the tooling will last for 4000 crankshafts so after the tooling is made we are GOLD. Affording the tooling charge right now cannot be done by us alone. I am searching to see if this market can bear the pricing. If we could presell 60 crankshafts it would be a go.

I have a 360 now. If I install your crank, what would be the new C.I.D.?
What modifications would be required?
Can I use my stock, factory balancer or do you recommend something else?
What do you recommend I would use for rods & pistons with 400-450BHP (normally aspirated)?

We havent finished the deal yet but you would either be 401CI@.030 or 411CI@.030 with the larger stroker crank we are trying to develop. These are primarily setup to use chevy forged rods and custom pistons. The pistons would have to be custom as well. Its a LARGE LARGE accomplishment for us that I am hoping we can swing if that is....we can get enough support.

5140 stronger than 4340?
jeep_man_401
IF it doesn't fly this time it may be something that will work down the road as allot of 360s are out there. Is it time to start saving all the blocks we can find? :-| I still can't afford to build my other 401 though. :?:
Would the crank be stronger than the stock 401? At what hp level can you take a 360 block up too safely and reliably?
jeepsr4ever
5140 would be like starting with a new 401 forging. Not as strong as a 4340 but very strong indeed.
