Transmision,transfercase adapter

I have a friend looking for a transmision to transfer case adapter. He is running a th400 and a dana 300 case. Please let me know if anyone can help. Thanks

might not be too easy to find. I think most ended up with the quadratrac tcase.

They're easy to find. Here's one on eBay right now, but its overpriced. I consider it a $50 item. I have one of these things right now, but I think its for a TH350. I'll look later today.

The easier way to get everything you need to run a D300 behind a Quadratrac TH400 is to buy a complete dead Chevy TH400 that had a 208, 241, or other NP case behind it. That gives you the whole tail assembly and New Process adapter to swap onto your AMC TH400's tail.

Yes, the Dana 300 has the same 6-bolt/stud pattern as a number of the New Process cases. Factory clocking and input spline aren't necessarily the same, though.

Thanks for all the info! Let me know if you have one, now for a dumb question. If the spline is different what else will he need? I am guessing a different output shaft? and if so how hard is that to find? Or would it be easier for him to just build a 727 tranny since we have those parts?

An AMC 727 from a 80-up FSJ will already have the appropriate adapter on it. That route is what I usually recommend to CJ owners, but you'll need to have at least about 4" of lift for the front driveshaft to clear the trans pan. 727's were intended for use with driver-drop cases that probably have a larger cross-car input centerline to front output centerline dimension.
