SIX SPEED automatics - GM -

GM has gone 6spd. with their Automatics - 4wd and 2wd.

Checking www.car-parts.com - they're coming in for about a
quick 'G' note.

Since adapters for the 700R4 exist - we should be able to slide
one of these behind an AMC.

Then there are ZF - uses less torque / hp to spin - very efficient.

This same box serves as the basis for their newer 8 speed automatic used in the BMws etc.

Hmmmm A 6 speed ehh?? now that would be :shock: something!!

the only problem would be computer controls either stand alone trans control module or intergraded w/ fuel injection (pcm). the newer stuff is all solenoid controled. oems have boo-choos of programers that program the stuff, so good luck with that. if you want one either study up on pcm programing or pay somebody mucho dinero. but, paddle shifters in the jeep would be cool. :lo1l:

Interesting...I wonder what the hp to run one is...don't they claim a TH400 is about 50hp and the least is the 2 speed powerglide? That would be awsome in my '73 Javelin AMX :lo1l: Look for TCI or B&M to make the set-up for a small block chevy...and us AMC guys will have to custom it again for our use. :(:

I'd look into the 6L90 that they are putting in the HD's should be able to handle anything you pu to em :lo1l:
