Lo_Boost Turbo on Cast Piston

I've read a few builds putting a Turbo on cast piston engines -
JYturbo@yahoogroups.com Archives - engines lived with 5 to 7 lbs. uncooled charge.

A good Turbo from www.mjmturbo.com [ James the Owner ] is
$600.00 - cheap HP/TQ - for a daily driver. :razz:

How is the quality of AMC cast pistons ?

Is there a 'better' cast piston material choice / manufacturer ?

Ceramic coat the piston crown ?

The stock AMC cast piston is very prone to cracking on the piston skirt from bores that are slightly past the nominal tolerance as well as upper ring lands from detonation and general fatigue. I wouldnt put a turbo on a motor with cast pistons unless it had brand new pistons and if they were cast I would use very little boost. My .02 :idea:
