i want to do a scout axle because of the dana 44..but i only really want to do the rear because it will be to expensive for me to both front and rear...will my jeep look silly with the dana 30 widetrack and a scout rear??? and if it does will wheel spacers in the front help it not look so silly??? and are wheel spacers safe to run???

Mike wheel spacers are safe to run. No the jeep will not look silly at all.... :?: sounds like a funny question. Keep in mind AMC drivetrain in a CJ from 76-86 was offcentered 2"s to the drivers side. You can run the axle with a compound driveshaft for a long time so dont worry about that. The scout rear at 58.5"s isnt that much wider than a widetrack. The front is nice but the caster is wrong and would onyl be good offroad in stock form. If you do swap the front the knuckles would need to burn turned a few degrees or your steering would start to suffer and wobble would take over.

awesome im doing it then...the guy at the local 4x4 said he would swap my 4.10 amc 20 for a used scout axle and id just have to re-gear it and maybe new brakes

getting ready to do this this week...instead of swapping i found someone that says they have scout axles...the 58.5 inches width is from outside of brake to to outside of brake drum???...i want to measure them up before i buy them just in case there not really scout axles...or is there anything else i can look at to know if they arent out of a chevy or something???

58.5 is right for the scouts!

As long as it is 58" wide and 5x5.5 lug pattern I do not know of any other vehicles the axle could be from. The nice thing about the rear scout axle is both shafts are the same length so you only have to carry only one spare.
I am running the scout rear with a wide track 30 front. It works just fine, If you want any pictures just let me know.
