tf727 questions

I have a 360 and tf727 from a 81 cherokee chief, and a d300 from a CJ swapped into my 91 YJ recently. i have read about the kickdown cable can be an issue and i don't know if I am going to run into the same problems. apparently the lokar kickdown cable is the recomended fix.? the motor is an 81 360, 2brl carb, all smog stuff removed and otherwise stock with a HEI distributer, tf727 transmission with flexalite trans cooler and B&M light truck megashifter. I plan to upgrade to a alum intake and 4bl carb, what would be my best option here? i really don't want to fry the transmission. thanks :lo1l:

Kickdown is necessary unless you have a manual valve body. I believe all manual valve bodies are reverse pattern as well. You will fry that nice tranny without a kickdown. I burned one up it a day. #-o

thanks jeepsr4ever, i ordered one of the lokar kickdowns from summitracing. should be here is a new days. hopefully this goes well, nothing else seems to so far on this build :roll:

thanks for the info. is ther any site/article/write up on how to set the kickdown cable properly? i haven't even got to firing the motor yet, need to finish the distributer install and wire in the gauges before i mess with the transmission.

I have a 727 and need to rebuild/set it up for the 360 in my CJ swap. Anybody have a rebuild video and suggestions??

After getting the timing fixed, I have to finish the 4:1 Terra-low and HD kit for the "spare D300" so it's ready when I get the 727 done. Been so long since I worked it, I have to get into it and find out where I left off. I did see there is a bit more end play in the output shaft than I think should be there, (might have missed a shim :oops: ) so . . . . :-|

Just one thing after another, and somewhere I need to find the time to work on the "honey do" list before :eyeslam:

Just read about the 727 rebuild book in the past week or so in one of the forums, don't remeber the title, something obvious like "rebuilding torqueflight transmissions", and think it was one of the typical car book printers like HP Books or something. Maybe check the car book web page, used to get catalogs in the mail from them all the time, what was it Automobile Books Iternational ? Sorry I don't have more specific info, can't even remember which forum it was on.

Well, it's time to get this tranny build started now that I have the T-case finished and it looks like I'll be in town for a while =D> I just ordered the book, next will be parts #-o Jeeps - you have any of those cable shift kits for the 727??
