Head changed in 80 IIRC and the way I tell is looking at the valve cover area on the head you should see no tapped holes for the cover. Pre 1980 had a finned side on the passenger side of the valve cover and also had all the holes tapped for valve cover bolts.

Gotcha, but I don't have this head in my sticky hands....that's why I wanted to check the application/part number.
