401 Pacer Can't seem to find any AMC engine paint locally...my sources claim that can't even order any! Where do you chaps get yours? What colors are correct for what years? What is the sound of turquoise? Help, I've started rambling (ramblering?) and can't shut the hell up!
401 Pacer You mean http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=138&itemType=PRODUCT ? Thanks, but that color is listed as only up to 1974....am actually looking for the more drab later 70's color which is more bluerer.
tufcj From 68-71 they used the more turquoise color (Alamosa aqua, I think it was called). This is the Seymour EN-66 color. From late 71 up the color they used was very close to the Caravelle Blue exterior color. Most auto paint shops can mix it and even put it in a rattle can if you want. I saw a guy in Kenosha with a couple of cases of spray cans of the later color. I can't tell which color the link is for. Bob tufcj
46flattie Summit Paint located in OH has it and pretty cheap. I think it was $3.95 a can. I bought a whole case! They are a distributor for Seymour Paint (as listed above EN-66). They have a web site, I think it is www.summitpaint.com. Scott
401 Pacer After exhaustive web searches (intermingled with really perverse porn searches) I discovered that the later blue is Ditzler #14688
401 Pacer Update, that Ditzler number is for lacquer. I can't see it being durable enough for the heat an engine will produce. Am back to square one....I can't believe how difficult it is to locate the later blue (non metallic) engine paint!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know how close it may be to say Mopar blue?
tufcj Actually, I believe the factory just painted with lacquer, not even high temp. The only place it will discolor is around the exhaust ports and maybe the heat crossover on a painted factory manifold. Factory did that too. Bob tufcj
Goose If you can give your local paint shop the ditzler number they should be able to match it in say a ppg omni.. or something.. I drove my Mini Cooper in to my paint store and had them mix me some "hyper blue" since it is only available in one specific high dollar brand, they scanned it and mixed it in Omni.
