CJim7 I started disassembling my 401 today...suspect bad rings (no fire/ no compression on #2) Pulled the intake and valve cover....noticed all the lifters were oiling like they should but i also noticed the #2 intake valve pushrod was squishy....like there was no compression in the lifter. Suspected bad lifter so i pulled it. sunofaB......the damn lifter was rounded at the bottom :(: . Of course the cam lobe is also rounded at the shoulders. Checked all the others and they looked perfect. Does this explain the miss on #2? It doesnt explain the oil in the cylinder or the lack of compression when i tested it. Also, why the hell would that one lifter do that? Just chance? Im absolutely frickin baffled :-| ready to just pull this motor.
AMX69PHATTY If the Intake valve was not opening then it would have to suck air from somewhere, probably around the rings and oil with it. When mine lost #4 exh lobe & Lifter it bent #4 Intake Pushrod since the exh wasn't opening letting pressure out. I would say this could cause the miss and lack of CR on #2. FWIW
CJim7 Heh....so if i reinstall one of my old lifters, how much time does my cam have? 50 miles?
82Waggy Check to see if the #2 intake valve is sticking - it would explain everything you are experiencing.

Holeshot Also, trash (such as a valve spring shim - killed my 390) may have disintegrated and dropped onto the lobe - killing it. Don't EVEN put a lifter on a bad lobe & off it!!!!
