Hood Louvers

Had to put some functional hood louvers on so you could peak in and see our booteefull new engine, and air cleaner sticker. Oh yeah, to let some heat out too.

Turned out great, but gotta admit it was a little scary cutting those huge holes in the hood.

Where did you find those louvers..? Didnt I read you pulled them from some other make of car..

A junk yard Chevy Lumina Z34. They were extremely expensive though. The guy wanted 50 cents each for them, but we talked him into $1 for the pair!

They have plastic screens and drip pans that snap on the undersides, but it seemed like they would severely cut down on the air flow, so we left them off...for now.

And the bestest part...all done at home by our ownselfs, as Festus would say, ha, ha.

Thanks. I wanted a mix of pics to show that it's not just a ramp poser.

Funny you should mention the tail lights. On the way home from the first day of the show that the ramp pics were taken at, a cop did a u-turn to come after us and pull us over. You'll never guess in a hundred years what for...no rear side marker lights! And it was in broad daylight. Those ones on the ramp picture are just some old camper trailer marker lights we stuck on with double stick tape for the second day of the show, just in case we ran into "our buddy" again. They weren't even wired up. After the show, we reinstalled the factory rear side marker lights and wired them up.

Some peoples children!!!! I guess I should install mine. I have the wires, but theres no body-hole were never any on there?

Not when their 'Frenched' :? I installed a Painless harness that has a seperate lamp line for the side lights.

You had me thinking the same thing there for a while, that the side markers were built into the surface mounted tail lights, as was the license plate light. But then I knew there were holes in the back fenders that we filled in when we flushed up the tail lights.

I had to actually go look at the Jeep. We knocked the holes back out and reinstalled the original side markers. They are a long narrow rectangular shape, about the same size as the front side markers, and surface mount except for one round projection that the light bulb socket twists into, that goes thru the hole in the fender.

Hmmmm I will have to go look.. I know my 77 Cj-5 doesnt have anything back there, (he says as smoke comes out of his ears trying to remember)
