351 engine swap + 9"ford rearend swap

Does anybody have any info or can point me in the right direction of any info on swaping a 258 for a 351 and changing out the rear end to a 9" ford. Thanks in advance for any input on this

A 9" swap just requires new axle pads to be welded on, as long as it's the right width. If you need it narrowed, talk to a local hot-rod shop, 9" is a pretty popular swap into anything. www.currieenterprises.com The AMC20 isn't a bad rear. It just needs a little help with a truss and one piece axle shafts from someone like Yukon or Moser.

Why not use a AMC 360? It will bolt right up to your current bellhousing, and you can bolt in factory motor mounts.

If you're set on a 351, go to www.zandm.com They're Ford conversion specialists.

Find a 9" from the late 60's... F-100. That's what was under the Jeep That I had... Perfect width etc... I don't think the perches even had to be moved. Don't waste your time with the Model 20.... IT's JUNK!!! In-order for it to be "DECENT" You'll have to do some fab work and spend some serious green, ($$$$). You'd be better off yanking a 44 or better yet a FF Dana 60 and have it narrowed etc. But, if you're only driving on pavement and slight off-road easy useage then the Model 20 will do... Honestly, go to a yard find a Ford pick-up that has a 351m, 4 speed, etc... and look around for various axles... do your research and then pick what you'll need.. better to go stronger than weaker... Just in-case you find yourself in that $%&#@*! situationYou can keep your current harness, you'll just have to snip wires splice others and I normally wire the engine etc independantly... lights, turn signals, wipers, heater... they're all factory wired... A new or aftermearket Wiring harnesses are expensive...

Thanks for the replies and the excellent info. A buddy gave me a 1976 ford van with 80K on a new motor. I have no money in it so that leaves me some room to play. Thanks again :lo1l: :?

Not necessarily, and I disagree. But to each thier own.

I had an AMC 20 with 3.73's, SSBC and didn't have a problem behind a built 258 running 35's (Superior Axles). But, I did swap them out with D44's w/ 4.56 lockers when I dropped a 410HP+ 360 into the chassis though :-)
The 20 is a good axle if you don't go hard or BIG! First off, drop some 1 piece axles in there with some 33's or even 35's!!
