cj brake conversion help needed

=D> I have a 73 cj5 that currently has drum brakes all around and I would like to convert it to aleast disk brakes on the front and I am not sure what vehicle I need to find as a donor vehicle for the parts. Any help would be greatly appreicated. I am getting ready to retire and sell my auto repair shop in about 2 years so I want to get all of the harder things done to my jeep where I will need the big welder and plasma cutter before I sell out. The disks from a 76-86 CJ Dana 30 front will bolt on to your existing axle. You need everything from the spindle out. Most desirable are the 76-79 "big brakes", which used a 1.125" rotor and a 6 bolt lockout hub. If you use 80-86 brakes you need the knuckle too, as the caliper bracket hangs from the knuckle. These used a smaller .875" thick caliper, and had a weaker 5 bolt lockout hub. Best bet is to buy a complete CJ front axle, use what you need, and sell the rest. You may also need a disc brake master cylinder and a disc brake proportioning valve to get the system balanced right. Bob tufcj

or swap in the whole assembly from a 76-79 w/disc, but may require gear swap. shoud be bolt and go.

Nope. All of the CJs from 1946 - 1981 were 51" WMS/WMS, frames and spring widths changed a little on the flatties, but everything from the mid 60s thru 1986 will bolt across with just a change of u-bolts and spring plates.
