360 Carb Question

Took off the stock Motorcraft carb and replaced it with the Holley P/N 0-7448. Here's a link for the install man:

I see that it is not recommended for ANY automatic transmissions. I'm running the TF999 now.

What issues casue this to not work or will it with the proper adjustments. I already added the Lokar Kickdown cable.

Any info would be helpful.

If I remember correctly, there is an idle dashpot mounted to the throttle linkage that keeps the throttle from slamming shut on an auto trans which will stall the engine. where as a standard has no load on it when the clutch is in.

Check Page 3 or 4 and tell me what you think. It kind of back pedals and says you can if you purchase a throttle extension lever....

You left out overdrive but I wouldn't see any difference.

TF trannies are VERY sensitive to kickdown. If you run without it you can burn one up in a day. Holley may suggest this because of the way the throttle adapts to the body of the carb. It may not have a second spot for a kickdown so they made their claim. Like you said you are running a Lokar so you should be fine.

Thanks. I was hopeing to hear that. Now...as long as I have it adjusted properly.....

The carb does in fact have a kickdown. Which is funny cause it says to not use on a auto, but yet talks about using one in the directions.

not sure but I think some come with a ford kickdown lever.
