i got a 71 360 7 ot oil pan vally pan oil tube high vol pump i goter runing and is got 80 psi oil press reving ideling about 40 psi i got a new oil fillter housing it did not have a place for the old spring or that dime size cover ????????????

Is the motor cold or warm. If cold does the pressure drop when it warms up?

wen its cold its 80 wen its warm its 40 but wen i rev it up it gos back to 80 idleing hot is 40 it runs great no engine noise

The issue with that kind of oil pressure is that if he had a oil style oil filter adaptor with the oil filter bypass he wouldnt filter any oil. At 80psi you are coming close to bloating a filter. If you start to bloat filters or blow them off a relocation kit with a dual filter would be the next step. AMC oil pumps flow a tremendous amount of oil in stock form however the primary efficiency is based on tolerance.
