83 Waggy What Axles?

83 Waggy w/ 360. Would like to know what axles this may have. Going to check it out on Friday but like a heads up?

Probably a Driver Drop front 44 and centered rear AMC-20HD (Comes with thicker tubes and 1 pc axles.. pretty darn stout)

Whatever you can get for them.. shoot for $250 to $400.

The front axle on an 83 Wag will be the driver's drop/vacuum disconnect Dana 44. It's worth its weight in scrap as it is a troublesome, not sought after axle.

Um... most of the 80's waggy's were full time 4WD not part time, so the front axle has drive slugs in the front.. and the ones that were part time used the NP219 case and still had either lockouts up front or slugs and the front assembly still rotated. There was never EVER a vacuum disconnect Front 44 for a waggy.

hmmm. I have an 83 wag with np208 and automatic and an 84 with t-176 and an np208.. both partime.. just lucky..

There was a vacuum disconnect 44 in Waggys. I've seen them, they're easily identifiable by the odd shaped diff cover. They had slugs in the end, no lockouts, since the disconnect was inside the tube. The whole system worked very much like the vacuum disconnect Dana 30 in XJs and YJs. They do make good boat anchors, and not much more. Bob tufcj

There was never EVER a vacuum disconnect Front 44 for a waggy.

Oh and the NP208 was the PT case and the NP219 was the FT
