JERSEYJOE,
I run a Centerforce II clutch disc and pressure plate on my 76 cj5. I believe I used a fresh stock throwout bearing. It went behind a mild 360 and in front of a t-150 trans. The bellhousing for the t-150 and t-18 were the same as I recall. It's a nice set up. Very light and easy clutch force, yet bites hard when engaged. The other half of my relationship weighs in at around 115 lbs and she wanted to be able to drive it without throwing her hip out. Since I have yet to change over to power brakes(though I do have the parts), it seemed only fair to go Centerforce II clutch route, big difference from the old borg and beck 3 finger style. Well...at least it has power steering! So when do I get to see that killer AMX in person? I wouldn't need much of an excuse to head your way with a CJ part or two. You must need something!

LUK makes a good diaphram clutch that takes the power well. The centerforce is a nice unit but the $$$ is big and the luk is rated to take similar power number ans has similar engagement. just a thought

i just swapped in a 360 in my cj...and my three prong clutch pressure plate wont disengage.....what could cause this?????i need some help....running a t4 tranny........
Dusty
not enough travel of the clutch fork. .... another thing that causes it on diaphram clutches and some three finger cltchs is if the flywheel was machined improperly and thebolts are bottoming out in thier holes thuse the pressure plate isnt totally seated up to the flywheel surface thuse the pressure plate travels some down to the surface of the flywheel before the load from the throwout and clutch fork wont do anything till its seated 111!!! 111!!!
mike4089
the flywheel is fine and the pressure plate it bolted to it fine im pretty sure......i know there isnt enough travel in the clutch fork....but i dont know how to make it travel any more because ive extended the piece that sits on the clutch fork as much as i could......
Dusty
the ball is set to deep, the arm is not long enough or the pp is not as tight...flush as you are thinking (i did this on a cummins clutch job in my truck, everything torqued to spec. and yet clutch wouldnt dis engage. pulled it apart, tuerns out the bolts fot the pressure plate were bottoming out 1 or two threads from totally pulling the pp flush to the flywheel and i couldnt even see it. What else has changed sin\ce the new clutch. was this a 4spd (in place of the orginal 3spd) to t150 bellhousing with new clutch all at the same time alot of variables. pedal adjustment is out. do you have a body lift?
:t:

I ran the center force I & II when they came out I just used the factory throw out bearing and the factory ford disc with the center force pressure plate and it wotked great
I was told to stay away from the center force disc because it was to hard on the flywheel with the ceramic in it
