Getting ready to swap my 258 for a AMC360. Plan on keeping my stock TF999. The 360 is complete front to back top to bottom.
I have recieved some suggestions from Hugh regarding a Lokar Kickdown cable as well as adding a cooler and temp gauge (which I planned on doing anyway).
I also plan on doing a TFI upgrade.
But does anyone else have anymore tips/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Its a pretty straitforward swap if you have the passenger side frame mount and the correct flexplate for the 360. Keep in mind you will need some kind of exhaust and I would run the manifolds. Also your distributor will not give spark without the purple wire from the ignition control module, you will have to cut and run a wire from the 3 wire plug coming off the distributor (purple wire) to the purple wire coming off the module....the wire isnt long enough by itself IIRC. You probly have a computer if its after 82 and you can take the computer out of snip all the wires but before you go that far get the basics hooked up on the 360 and cut from there. Swapping in a AMC V8 can only lead to alot of fun in the end so good luck and let us know if you need and help and dont forget to post some updates as you move along (pics help as well)

The computer was removed before I got the jeep.
I was debating about the headers/manifold issue. The manifolds are already attached. So, I'll probabally kee those for now. I spoke to a muffler shop yesterday about doing the work on the exhaust.
Thanks for the dist tip! Not something I was aware of. Will I have any issuse b/c the computer was already removed? The only issue I have had with the 258, is that I had to run a man choke in order to keep the thing running in the winter.
I will definately keep everyne posted and get pics along the way. I hope to get started in the next 2 weeks.
Thanks
