sfbayboater I have been reading this forum to get ideas for my rebuild on my 360. I have read alot about quenching, but don't totaly understand it, and was hoping to get some help. If I do decied to mill my heads, would .030 work for a 360 that will have the following parts in the engine, and be used for a DD, Trail Rig, Towing, in 1976 FSJ. Aslo how does milling my heads affect the intake fitment. Engine: 360 going to overbore to .030 Cam: Summit 8600 Intake: Edelbrock Performer Carb: Edelbrock 1400 600 CFM TBI: Howell TBI CARB Legal (Future) Ignition: Z&M HEI Heads: Minor Port and Polish Stock rods and pistons. I'm looking to bump compression to arounf 9.0 and still run 87 pump gas and be smog legal in CA at the same time. Thanks
FuzzFace2 Not to pull any thing from this great site but I asked that same question on another forum, here is a link http://www.amcforums.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1167603407 But would like to hear it from people on here too. Dave ----
Blown7 Forget the technical, just remember to keep a flat ring around the piston top from .300-.400 inches in width, and around .040" clearance from the head. Thats all you have to remember. Do that you'll always have good "squish" or quench, no matter what compression, bore size, or piston shape (dish or dome). Jeff
