We are sending out a bunch of 401 cranks for strokers very soon and will be batching pistons and rods as well. If you are looking for a 11-1 stroker 401 let me know very soon. We can save a boat load of dough if we do this all together. Right now we have 2 blower motors (with one stroker/blower pending) 5 strokers. We will be using the top forgings from Diamond piston and Honda journal rods from Eagle. We offer a crygoenic freezing on all cranks/rods between final nitriding and polishing. We are looking at
Offset grind $253 (per quote from Crankshaft supply co.)
Nitriding, double mag and polish $140 (per quote from Crankshaft supply co.)
We are trying to get pistons under $500 with .300-.312 top ring lands for either blower or NOS applications. The rods will be Eagle 6" honda journal unless you specify and pay for others. We are trying to get enough people together to do the big buy in with Eagle rods and we will offer them at our cost to anyone on this group buy.
If you are thinking about a stroker motor and have a good core 401 and about $1500 ready to put into it this is the time to step up. We are assuming $1500 will be the max for the lower end. Now if you guys want extra parts like 4 bolt main caps or ARP studs we can work that out as well.
Let me know really soon, serious enquiries only please.

How many cubic inches would these end up? What kind of hp?
Holeshot
Are you "boost" guys filling your 4.165"+ blocks with concrete???
From all the research I have done, the smaller bore blocks can apparently take a bunch more boost w/o distorting & can make more power with more boost & a round hole. Not to mention that the super-heated gasses going past the pistons may take some metal along for the ride to the oil pan.

What about de-stroking some 401 cranks? How short can they go?
jeepsr4ever
447 CI @ .040 over/ 4.025 stroke (Honda rod journal using a .030 rod 401 crankshaft)
449CI @ .050 over
451CI @ .060 over
457CI @ 4.25 (BBC bore) With 1/3 block filler
We are batching forged pistons built for a NOS/Blower applications at 11-1 compression. Two of us will be running E-85 and 3 will not. 2 more will be running blower motors with this stroker combo. All will need to be .040 if you want in on the piston deal. We are looking at Eagle rods and double heat treating and stress relieving the crankshafts (Nitride and cryo). All for under $1500.

Any Ideal about how much HP can run on a honda journal seams like it might be OK run naturally aspirated but not sure about N2O or a lot of boost.

Well we will be heat treating these to the best they will ever be after grinding so its hard to say. A few run just over 700hp reliably on the street with this combo and with no heat treating. Its hard to say but the cryo treatment alone doubles the life of a butter crank.

Will these sets be balanced?
jeepsr4ever
No thats up to each individual to source the balancing. If need be we can batch them for balancing but it would be extra $$
jeepsr4ever
Just so everyone knows we are not making a penny off this it is a group/batch process.
giz
cool Im in how do you want me to contact you
73hornut
How soon to do all this?
jeepsr4ever
Well we are sending cranks out next week, ok. The grinder says they wont be ready until the middle to tail end of january so we will need the crank monies when they are done. We will ask that all participants need to get the money on time (Icant stress this enough, we will not pay for the work done to your crank). That being said we can get a crankshaft in the mix for you but you need to send us a *good* core immediately (ground shipping is ok). We have a few extras for those who cant ship their cranks right away.

How much for the crank work?
ol' school power

See first post/page1.
73hornut
Well, I can just afford to get the crank done. Are we paying shipping both ways?
Will there be any way to get the rods and pistons later?
jeepsr4ever
Rods/pistons will be more expensive later but yes you can do just the crank. Yes we wont cover shipping that is up to you from 55045

Is the width of a honda rod the same as a 401? If it was narrow with too much rod end clearance, wouldn't it bleed off too much oil? Or if its too wide what would be done to make it fit? (turn crank throws wider?)
