Too much cam for me but.. how does the rhoads lifters work?? I had heard they freaked out with the low oil pressure at idle..??

I have Rhoades lifters in my CJ (401). Noisy son-of-a-guns, but seem to work well and runs very good! I did not build the engine, but it runs so good, I am not going to mess with it until it breaks. The noise reminds me of the sbc 327, with Duntov solid lifer cam in my old '55.

Q. Why do Rhoads Lifters sound similar to solids at low rpm?
A. With Rhoads Lifters there is never any clearance in the valve train. The ticking noise you hear is simply a slightly accelerated valve-closing rate much like that of a solid lifter. This sound gradually disappears as the rpm increases.
