I NEED A CAMSHAFT FOR USE IN A 401. 8.5 COMPRESSION, STOCK HEADS, PERFORMER INTAKE, STOCK EXHAUSTS. BEFORE I BUY A NEW ONE I'LL TAKE A SHOT THAT SOMEONE HAS ONE LAYING AROUND
GOING IN A J-20, PLOWING AND HAULING.
DON'T CARE IF IT'S USED AS LONG AS IT'S USEABLE

I've got a decent cam out of my 360 I'm rebuilding, if you can use it, it's yours for $20 + shipping.

any ideas on the specs of your cam questman? Just thinking Joe might want to know before he decides to buy.

I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN STOCK. THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF CAMS SUGGESTED HERE. I AM NOT TOO PICKY ABOUT THIS ONE SINCE IT'S GOING IN A PLOW / HAULING TRUCK.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM JUST BUYING A NEW ONE, I JUST THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE ONE LAYING AROUNF THAT THEY TRIED AND TOOK OUT. I GUESS I COULD USED THE STOCK 401 CAM AND ADVANCE IT A COUPLE OF DEGREES.

You mentioned that you weren't interested in a stock cam, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I've got a dead stock cam for a 401 that was pulled as soon as the dead stock rebuilt 401 arrived from Texas or wherever. At least that is the story I got from the guy I got it from along with a pile of very nice 401 engine stuff. I believe it was never even broken in on the engine, I've had it in a box for about 3yrs now. For a basic plow truck with a performer intake 401, the stock cam wouldn't seem that far out from the low end grunt cam you would be most likely interested in. I have a feeling that if I know what you have and you know what I have we could be very beneficial to each other. I'm in Toms River, not too far right!

I already ordered an Engle 35018H. But I would like to come down ad shoot the bull. I have lots of AMC stuff too and continue to build CJ's.

Jersey Joe,
Sounds OK with me! Most of my stuff is pretty boring, and it's a complete disaster area! Luckily all of it is inside about 5 miles from my house, except my 76 CJ5 anyway. I dig the picture and brief description of your "factoryish racer" of an AMX...Very cool. I'd like to see that in person sometime. I'd give you a call but I know better than to call people after 11pm. I'm a late night type but I realize some aren't. Feel free to call me anytime between 9am and 11pm(after that she's probably sleeping) I was just up your way not but a few hours ago. I went up to the Budd Lake area to pick up a 1966 torque tube T-10 tranny. Man those suckers are hard to find out of a car. 1966 only...one year tranny!
The retarted side of me got hooked on the idea of doing up a 66 classic convertible with the rare factory option t-10 and a moderately built 390. Basically a fun cruiser that can get out of it's own way if it needs to. I have amassed about enough parts to do two of them now, including the now extra T-10. I've had the CJ bug for over a dozen years...I have issues! The smarter half of my relationship has a masters in clinical psychology, and she still puts up with me! Go figure.
Until next time

PS If you want you could always send your new cam back when it arrives...I'll give you the new 401 stock spec cam for an excuse to come see your AMX. Just a thought.

We will hook up at some time. I am headed to Upstate New York today to work on the toys up there. I am right off exit 15 W of the NJ turnpike. I found a nice rear Dana 60 HD in Pennsylvania and I have to pick it up on the way to NY. My current project is a CJ 7 with 401 and I am just getting the frame ready for the bolt ons now. Where in toms River are you? My better half's parents live in the Silver Bay area. I am not much of a Jersy shore guy. I prefer to spend time in Upstate New york " on the farm."

I have a place in Bayville, just east of Ocean Gate. My garage/disaster area is in Pine Beach(just across the river from Toms River) That is where the stuff is. I like the upstate areas too but I grew up sailing and being around the water...just got used to it I guess.
