In the process of rebuilding my 360 for my CJ and was considering a serpentine belt set up. Have not seen any aftermarket set ups for the AMC V8. So I think with the help of a machinist friend I can make the proper pulleys.
Now to the issue. Was thinking of running an electric water pump (been seeing a ton of these on e-bay) to make it easier on belt routing and proper directional spin on the water pump.
So I figure you fella's would have some experience with the electric water pumps, are they reliable? Are they durable? Do they flow well? Is it something that you'd put on a daily driver (not that the CJ will see more than 10k a year in mileage)?
Thoughts?
Any particular brands better than the other?
TIA :)

I am useing a mizeere (sp?)
it flows very good and is a couple of years old I have seen them used on the street a lot around here and I do live in the dessert. the only issue is the Alt bracket needed to be modifyed . no problem for me but that may be an issue for you.
Not a direct bolt on.

I'm thinking of running an electric water pump on the 401 I'm putting in my Scrambler. Anyone running a Meziere? CSR? Other? Could you tell a difference on the engine temp?

Nobody running Elect Water Pumps???

Im scared of anything electrical...especially when it controls the life and death of my engine.

Is there anybody out there that likes them? =D> :-| Anybody got any real-life-horror-stories about one?

If I could afford an electric waterpump I would have one. The way I see it is if you combine it with electric fans you set both of them up on thermostatis switchs, when you're done driving you just walk away from the vehicle and it will cool its self down and shut off at your set temp.

Thanks Brek! For a minute I was thinking I was the only one who thought an elect water pump was a good idea!
