AGR super pump

does the AGR super pump need to be used with one of their boxes or can it be used with a stock power steering box. I just replace my box and now my pump is going and i want to upgrade without changing the box

I believe it can be used with a stock gearbox I think I had one on a CJ with a stock gearbox. I would call them for sure, its a little hazzy in my memory.

You can use it with a stock box. It's built to give higher flow and pressure. Their steering box is made to take advantage of the flow and pressure.

I have the Superbox I and pump on my CJ. Definitely worth the money.

Nothing comparable between AGR and PSC. You couldn't pay me to run an AGR pump but I'd pay extra for the PSC.

Best advice is to put the AGR pump on ebay and call Tom at PSC and he'll get you set up with the right pump for your application.

whats wrong with the AGR pumps do they have some problems i haven't heard about. I just want to know what i should be worried about and why the PSC pumps are better before i buy something

AGR is just not as meticulous in their standards for building pumps. They have much looser tolerances for what gets an AGR label.

PSC is a little more selective about the work they do.

It's like the difference between McDonalds and a fancy restaurant. You can get a meal at either place. McDonalds is cheaper but you get better food at the fancy restaurant.

I've had my AGR pump and box for better than 4 years now, I've had no problems and am happy with the way it performs. The only complaint I have is they were very slow with the core refund. Bob tufcj

I think AGR used to be a great company when they first started doing there thing over 10 years ago. And they might still be a great company, but the product seems like it isn't what it used to be. Maybe even a little overrated.

My AGR Super Box got fairly sloppy in limited use with 35 and then 37" tires. I never had any problems with the pump however.

For my future steering needs I will likely consider PSC products or West Texas Offroad.
