We have a rare opportunity to make some 4340 forged steel stroker crank for the AMC 304/360's. These cranks would make a 360 a 401 and a 304 a 340. They would use a chevy forged rod and off the shelf chevy forged pistons. The combo for the rod and pistons would be around $500 but we dont know what the crank would cost yet. This would make around 10-1 compression with a stock 58cc head. This would also make 414 CI out of a .030 401
Any takers? Ideas? concerns?

I would love to buy a stroker kit for my 304 but right now the money just isn't available. Is this a one time offer kind of deal or something that may be available down the road?

Nope no time frame yet

Ditto what oldyeller said, Would love to get one just cant swing it at this time

Ok, I think that i would have to be one of the first to purchase that combo. I would love to turn my 304 into a 340. I got it bored .060 right now, so what would that take it to?
Like I said above, I'd be one of the first to buy.

Three hundred and forty four :t:

Any word on the production of this crank? I kinda had a brainfart when i decided to build a 304 but when it the only known good block you have....it kinda just presented itself. Plus id like to keep the small size for in my opinion less rotating mass = fasters revs. Thats my theory, right or wrong i don't know. Jeepsr4ever if you find any info on this such as dates costs and all that good stuff let me know!

Yes I will keep updates rolling

If the cost of the crank is reasonable I'd certainly be interested. That way I could leave my 60K virgin 401 in the shed and rebuild the tired 360 that's in my CJ.

What if these were around $900 each? Would there still be any takers?
fifesjeep
$900 for the Crank/Rods and Pistons?... IMO that would be a Sweet deal...
jeepsr4ever
No thats just the crank :?: If it was that much for the shooting match I would buy 50 of them
:sa:

Rods & pistons, $500 - Crank another $900. That's still only $1400 into what would be a pretty killer setup. Rings, bearings, cam, and some head and other machine work, You could still come in around $3000 for a complete stroker motor. I'd be interested.

How about $1250 after all said and done?!!! If so, I'd be interested in it after I get back from Cali... I'll be in Cali around Jan... and wont be back home until June.. (Schooling)..
Oldyeller
$1400 is quite a bit of money for me, but I could come up with it in about 6 months, I'd still be on the list.
runnamuck
=D> heck man, that opens up alot of options, cheaply. callies crank? would the fodged rods be h-beam, i-beam, hollow? would Ti or Al be offered? what pistons you gonna carry, ross?
inquiring minds want to know.
jeepsr4ever
No Ross doesnt offer a good deal on their "holy grail" pistons :?: I think we would be looking at offering some forgings from either Probe or Diamond piston and some H or I beam 4340 forgings. I think this would be around $1500 complete with rings. Thats a heck of a deal for a forged lower end with a slight bump in compression. You could build some really nice power!...and cheap
I love the stroker cranks

Hell, thats what i just paid for my 360 .030 over, balanced etc.... that hasn't even been broke in yet
fifesjeep
Yeah... that is a hell of a deal.... I'd pop for it around June 1st after I come back from my Machinist Schooling and right before I go back out to Sea.. This way when I come back my next block will be done with the prep work etc and I'll toss it together... How much clearance will be required for the crank etc? I'd love to build a Bullet proof 360 pushing 500+hp.. and In a Jeep!!! :lo1l:

As far as using chevy parts, does that mean any kind of stock or aftermarket 350 rods and pistons? The $1400 would be really nice if it cost only that much to my door. I think I can scrounge up that in a few months. KEEP us updated! :lo1l: Im really thinking about this and i do think i would have to buy one. I love the 302 ford stroked to a 347, that is one sweet setup but a 304 to a 340.....sexy :?
